The Force Awakens + new characters

Everybody else gets a wordy introduction, but all it says about Hux is “General Hux (34, scary)” which lets you know all you need to know:

a. He’s military to the core
b. He’s reached a top rank by an incredibly young age, and
c. He’s scary (see point b)

I actually find this quite interesting*, because it implies that these are the core facets of the character? He’s devoted to his career (backed up by the speech in the novelisation, which refers repeatedly to the oath he took as an officer), he’s young, he’s intimidating, and he doesn’t give much away about himself.

I feel like they are really making a little bit of a mystery of Hux in this movie, and I can’t imagine why** unless there’s going to be some kind of reveal about him in the subsequent films…

*I am choosing to find this interesting, as the alternative is taking it as a sign that of all these characters, Hux is the least important and this is flatly unacceptable to me as I consider Hux the most important character in the whole damn SW universe, so.
**Also possible that they’re just not bothering to give him backstory like Snoke, Maz, and Phasma because he’s not going to be a big player, which would be so annoying I refuse to even consider it unless it actually happens! Not sorry.
